Junior Visual Merchandiser Resume Example

Overview

Visual merchandising roles combine creativity with commercial awareness. Retail brands want people who can build compelling displays that drive sales, not just create something that looks good. For graduates, the key is showing you have installed real displays in real stores and understand the link between visual impact and customer behaviour.

This resume belongs to Jade Williams, a Fashion Marketing graduate from Leeds Arts University. She completed a visual merchandising placement at River Island across 3 stores and worked in retail at Zara. Her resume works because it connects display work to measurable commercial outcomes.

What Makes This Resume Work

Display installation is counted and contextualised. 25+ window displays across 3 stores gives a clear picture of Jade's output and ability to work across multiple locations. Mentioning brand guidelines and planograms shows she understands the disciplined side of visual merchandising.

The pop-up display drove footfall. An 18% increase in store footfall directly linked to a display Jade designed is a strong commercial outcome. This is the kind of result that area managers and brand heads want to see from their VM teams.

Competitor analysis shows strategic thinking. Conducting 12 competitor store audits and producing visual reports demonstrates Jade does not just install displays; she thinks about how her work compares to the wider market and identifies opportunities for improvement.

Key Takeaways

For visual merchandising roles, count the displays you have installed, the stores you have worked across, and any commercial results you can link to your work. Include competitor analysis experience and any research into display psychology or consumer behaviour. Retail brands want visual merchandisers who think commercially, not just creatively.
