Junior Video Editor Resume Example

Overview

Video editing roles attract a lot of applicants, but many of them submit resumes that only list software skills. Knowing Premiere Pro is the baseline. What separates candidates is evidence of real editing work, whether for clients, brands, or personal channels, with audience numbers to back it up.

This resume belongs to Liam O'Brien, a Film and Television graduate from Dublin City University. He completed a six month internship at a post-production house and runs a YouTube channel with 85,000 views. His resume succeeds because it connects technical editing skills to tangible commercial and audience outcomes.

What Makes This Resume Work

The internship section reads like a professional portfolio. Liam edited 30+ deliverables across 8 client projects. He names national brands (Bord Bia, Tourism Ireland) and includes combined view counts. This immediately tells a hiring manager he has worked on real campaigns, not just student exercises.

Personal projects demonstrate consistency and audience growth. A YouTube channel with 42 published videos and 85,000 views shows discipline and the ability to produce content on a regular schedule. The top-performing video with 18,000 views proves he can create content people actively seek out.

Technical and creative skills are balanced. Liam lists editing software alongside storytelling and client communication. Video editing is a collaborative role that requires translating client feedback into visual output, and his resume reflects that balance.

Key Takeaways

If you are applying for video editing roles, your resume needs to show output, not just tools. Count the projects you have edited, the views they generated, and the clients you worked with. A personal YouTube channel or Vimeo portfolio with consistent uploads and growing viewership is one of the strongest signals a junior editor can offer.
