Overview
Junior digital commerce executives support online sales channels by managing product listings, running promotions, and analysing customer purchasing behaviour. Most employers want someone who can use platforms like Shopify or Magento, understands paid and organic traffic, and can talk about conversion rates without hand-holding.
This resume belongs to Priya Okafor, a recent BSc E-Commerce graduate from De Montfort University. She completed a summer placement at an independent fashion retailer and worked part-time at a fulfilment warehouse during her studies. Her resume works because she pairs academic knowledge of digital commerce with real metrics from managing live product catalogues and email campaigns.
What Makes This Resume Work
Platform experience is specific and measurable. Priya managed 240 SKUs on Shopify during her summer placement, updating product descriptions, imagery, and pricing. She also ran A/B tests on product page layouts that increased add-to-cart rates by 12%. These are not vague claims. They show she has actually used the tools and tracked the outcomes.
Email marketing results stand out. She built and sent weekly email campaigns using Mailchimp, growing the subscriber list from 1,800 to 2,600 over three months. Her best-performing campaign achieved a 28% open rate and generated £3,200 in direct sales. For a junior candidate, owning an entire channel end to end is a strong signal.
The dissertation connects to employer needs. Her final year project analysed abandoned cart recovery strategies across five UK fashion retailers, finding that personalised follow-up emails recovered 9% more carts than generic ones. This shows she can research, gather data, and present findings that matter to e-commerce businesses.
Warehouse experience adds operational depth. Working at a fulfilment centre during term time means she understands what happens after the checkout button is clicked. She processed an average of 130 orders per shift and flagged a labelling error that was causing 4% of returns to be misrouted. That operational awareness is rare in e-commerce graduates.
Key Takeaways
If you are applying for junior e-commerce roles, do not just list the platforms you have used. Show what you did with them and what happened as a result. Even small placements or part-time roles can produce strong metrics if you track your work. Pair your technical skills with at least one example of campaign ownership, and use your dissertation or coursework to demonstrate that you can think critically about online retail problems.
