Junior Export Coordinator Resume Example

Overview

Export coordination is one of those roles where practical experience counts more than academic theory. Employers want to see that you understand documentation, compliance, and logistics, because a single mistake on a customs declaration can hold up an entire shipment and cost thousands.

Tomasz Kowalski is an international business graduate from Coventry University who completed a year-long placement at Rimstock, a Birmingham-based alloy wheel manufacturer. His resume is effective because it shows real trade experience with specific shipment volumes, country coverage, and compliance accuracy.

What Makes This Resume Work

Placement experience with measurable output. Processing 200+ shipments to 15 countries is a number that any hiring manager in logistics can immediately understand. It shows volume, geographic scope, and the ability to handle repetitive but detail-critical work without errors.

Cost savings that demonstrate commercial awareness. Negotiating with 4 freight forwarders and saving £12,000 annually shows Tomasz thinks beyond just completing tasks. For a placement student, this is an impressive contribution that proves business value.

Bilingual ability as a genuine asset. In export roles, language skills are not just a nice extra. Being fluent in Polish is directly useful for companies trading with Central and Eastern Europe, and it immediately differentiates Tomasz from monolingual candidates.

Warehouse experience that adds depth. The Amazon role might seem unrelated, but it shows familiarity with fulfilment operations, accuracy under pressure, and the initiative to get forklift certified. All of these translate directly to logistics and export coordination.

Key Takeaways

For export coordinator roles, your resume should prove that you can handle documentation accurately and at volume. Name the countries, the shipment values, and the systems you used. If you speak another language, make it prominent because it is a real competitive advantage in international trade. Even warehouse or fulfilment experience is relevant if you frame it around accuracy, throughput, and logistics awareness.
