Junior Animator Resume Example

Overview

Animation studios receive hundreds of applications for every junior role. A strong showreel is essential, but the resume that goes alongside it needs to prove you can work in a production environment, hit deadlines, and take direction. Festival screenings and studio internships are the strongest signals you can offer at this stage.

This resume belongs to Priya Sharma, an Animation graduate from Bournemouth University. She completed a summer internship at Blue Zoo Animation and had her final year film selected for three student festivals. Her resume connects creative talent with professional discipline by quantifying scene output, revision turnaround, and audience reach.

What Makes This Resume Work

Studio internship is detailed like a production role. Priya does not just say she "assisted the animation team." She counts scenes animated (38), frames cleaned up (120+), and revision turnaround time (24 hours). These specifics show she can keep up with broadcast production schedules.

Festival selections add external validation. Having a short film screened at the BFI Future Film Festival and Encounters Bristol tells a recruiter that Priya's work has been evaluated by industry professionals and found worthy of public screening. That kind of third-party endorsement is hard to replicate on a resume.

Freelance work demonstrates initiative. Taking on paid motion graphics work while still at university shows commercial awareness and the ability to manage client relationships. Completing 5 projects with 100% satisfaction and repeat bookings is a compelling signal for any employer.

Key Takeaways

Your showreel gets you noticed, but your resume gets you hired. Quantify your animation output: scenes completed, frames drawn, turnaround times met. If your work has been screened at festivals or viewed by a significant audience, include those numbers. Studios want animators who can produce quality work consistently, not just create one beautiful piece with unlimited time.
