Junior Automation Tester Resume Example

Overview

Automation testing is one of the fastest-growing specialisms in QA. Companies are moving away from manual-only testing teams and want testers who can write code, integrate with CI/CD pipelines, and maintain automated suites. If you can demonstrate these skills as a graduate, you immediately stand out from candidates who only know manual testing.

This resume belongs to Elena Vasquez, a Software Engineering graduate from Manchester Metropolitan University. She interned at Checkout.com writing 80+ automated test scripts and holds both ISTQB Foundation and Agile Extension certifications. Her resume succeeds because it quantifies automation output and connects it to measurable time savings.

What Makes This Resume Work

Automation output is measured precisely. 80+ test scripts written, 25 integrated into CI/CD, and regression testing time reduced from 8 hours to 3 hours. These numbers tell a QA lead exactly what Elena can deliver and the impact her automation work has on the release cycle.

CI/CD integration is included. Writing tests is one thing; integrating them into a pipeline so they run automatically on every pull request shows Elena understands modern testing workflows. This is a key differentiator from candidates who can only run tests manually.

API testing adds breadth. Testing 15 payment API endpoints using Postman and RestAssured shows Elena can work across the testing stack, from UI to API level. This versatility is highly valued in automation roles.

Key Takeaways

Automation testing resumes need to show both code and impact. Count the scripts you wrote, the pipelines you integrated them into, and the time savings you achieved. If you can name the frameworks you used (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright) and the CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins), do so. ISTQB certifications remain valuable, but hands-on automation experience is what gets you hired.
