Why Emerald Photo?
This is the same Emerald template with one addition: a profile photo in the header. Everything else stays the same. Same single-column layout, same 9.5/10 ATS score, same 18 colour options.
Adding a photo to your resume is a personal choice. In some industries and regions it is expected. In others it is unusual. This template gives you the option without compromising the layout or ATS performance.
When a photo makes sense
A profile photo works well when you are in a client-facing role where trust is built in person. Consultants, account managers, real estate agents, financial advisors, coaches, and trainers all benefit from putting a face to their name.
It is also common in European, Middle Eastern, and Asian job markets where a CV photo is standard practice. If you are applying internationally, this variant saves you from having to reformat your resume.
When to skip the photo
If you are applying through US or UK job portals, most companies prefer resumes without photos to reduce bias in hiring. Government and public sector roles often have strict formatting requirements that exclude photos. In those cases, use the base Emerald template instead.
What you get
- Everything from the base Emerald template: single-column layout, 9.5/10 ATS score, section dividers, multi-page support
- A clean, circular photo area integrated into the header
- The photo appears on the first page only. If your resume runs to two pages, the second page flows naturally without the image
- 18 colour themes, all adjusted to work alongside a headshot
- Arvo as the default font, with the option to switch to Inter, Poppins, Lora, Century Gothic, or any other available font in the Laddro builder
Photo tips
Use a recent headshot from the last two years. Shoulders up, neutral background, good lighting. Your phone camera works fine if the lighting is right.
Match the formality of the photo to the role. A suit for finance or law, smart casual for tech or creative roles. When in doubt, dress one level above what the role calls for.
The template uses a circular crop, so make sure your face is centred in a square frame before uploading.
ATS compatibility
The photo does not affect ATS parsing. The image is rendered as a separate element that parsers skip over. Your text content reads identically to the base Emerald template, which is why both variants score 9.5/10.
